In every life there are those whose faith, commitment, and talent, compel us to reach beyond our grasp and discover the true miracle within us.

For me, this quote describes my family. While growing up on a rural farm in Colorado, I learned the meaning of hard work at a young age. Through 4H and Boy Scouts, I learned perseverance and determination pay great dividends. Those simple days of my youth helped form the person I am today. In my parent's home, a newspaper clipping was displayed that read, "Education is not only for earning a living, but for learning to live, to serve, and to lead." I was blessed to have parents who understood that an education was important and that formal schooling and life's experiences combine to mold a person. They taught me the value of pursuing causes greater than myself and that serving my friends, community, and country is an honor and privilege. Through Varsity football and track, serving as a student senator and cadet, I learned sacrifice and commitment. Having the opportunity to serve my country as an officer in the U.S. Army showed me that no great leader serves alone. I joined a group of many family members who served before me.

My greatest encourager is my wife of 15 years, Anne. She has supported me every step of the way, while managing a successful business and raising our two children. Faith, commitment and talent are the benchmarks of our family. Our faith is what sustains us. Our commitment is what drives us. Our talent is what God has blessed us with to be successful.
