Spotsylvania County Republican Chairmanship
· We Stand at a Crucial Crossroads
· A better community demands individuals who take Personal Responsibility and Action to make the community the best it can be.
· I am a tested and proven leader who is willing to make the personal self sacrifices necessary to lead Spotsylvania to a better future by working to promote our values and our ideas.
I am sure all of us are aware that we are at a crucial crossroads in our nation, in our state, and right here in our home of Spotsylvania County. We are approaching the end of an era and are about to embark on another uncharted one.
As the Bush presidency comes to an end, we have laid out before us both opportunities and challenges. We face international threats, domestic threats, and an economy tittering on the edge. No longer can we sit safely in our armchairs, Monday morning quarterbacking decisions that were made. We as individuals need to take accountability.
We know our Republican base throughout the nation, our state and right here in Spotsylvania is disinterested, disaffected and disorganized. No longer can we assume someone else can solve our problems for us. Many people are at odds about the state of the war, the state of the economy, the state of our schools and the quality of our government. But no one is willing to take on the mantle of leadership, either individually or collectively, to correct problems that we face or tinker with those policies gone askew. I am willing and able to take on the mantle of leadership by seeking the office of Chairman, Spotsylvania County Republican Committee.
Here in Spotsylvania, where hero’s stood on the bloodied hallowed battlegrounds, fought and died for causes greater than self, we have a choice in what direction our nation will take by electing a new President and a new Congress. In 2009 we Virginians decide what direction our lovely state will take by choosing a new Governor and a new legislature. These are important tasks that will make a strong impact upon the rest of our lives and the world we bequest to our children.
We personally may not be able to change events in the Middle East, along the southern border with Mexico, with the drought witnessed this year along the East coast, or who ultimately wins the presidency. We can, however, make a positive impact here at home in Spotsylvania. We can, individually choose to act to make our community here in Spotsylvania a better place to live, to work and to worship.
Our nation was born out of the personal intervention of many individuals desiring to live a better life. Those ambitious people who crossed the oceans and cut the forests to eke out a new life in Colonial America and the early years of our nation knew they could create a better life by the sweat of their brow and the strength of their backs. It is an example modern citizens tend to forget as they juggle busy schedules of their work and their families. We get caught up in grind of getting kids to school, extracurricular activities, employees, employers, our customers, and every-day life.
We forget that our Forefathers and each one those brave individuals who created this great nation gave a bit of themselves, above that of their daily toils, to make this new experiment in freedom work.
I have plan that with a little help, we can advance our shared Republican goals here in Spotsylvania County. Its elements are:
Mission: Develop the County Republican Party into an effective Grassroots organization that can identify, educate, motivate and turnout Republicans to ensure victory for our not only our candidates in each election, but securing our values, morals, and principles.
In order to accomplish this mission, we must work together to:
1. Invigorate, develop, and build our Republican committee into an effective political operations organization that turns out reliable votes and supporters by maximizing the efforts together that does not encroach too much on personal time and private lives, but allows for our nominees to attain victory at the polls.
2. Avoid being solely a debate society that fractures our ability to achieve the above.
3. Set and fulfill realistic and attainable goals to organize our county around an effective Get Out To Vote (GOTV) process.
4. Increase our base by identifying like-minded individuals who are likely to vote and motivate them to turn out to vote and influence policy makers.
5. Invite these individuals to participate in the process by showing them they can make a meaningful difference in the community.
